About Us

Founder

A Bangladeshi New Yorker and avid traveler, Mohine discovered the vision for Matin Edit during a trip to Thailand. She was searching for a versatile wardrobe staple that could instantly elevate any look while still fitting effortlessly into her carry-on. But she couldn’t find the shawl she envisioned, not with the quality she desired, nor with the cultural resonance and intentional design she was searching for.

So she made it.

Matin Edit is a callback to the shawls of Bangladesh, the nostalgic, indispensable pieces her maternal lineage kept close, with an edit to make it unmistakably now: elevated with feather trim and fine natural fibers, designed to hold both heritage and modern style in one piece.

Founded by Mohine Matin, a corporate professional channeling a lifelong passion for clothes, color, and cultural identity, Matin Edit is a deeply personal creative project with a clear commercial purpose: to fill a meaningful gap in the U.S. market for culturally resonant, fashion-forward South Asian textile design at an accessible luxury price point.

Built alongside her sister, Monishee Matin, another corporate powerhouse, and supported by her husband, Nasim Chowdhury, who helps bring her visions to life through execution and strategy, Matin Edit is rooted in family, creativity, and intention.

Matin Edit is Mohine’s answer to lazy girl luxury, one handcrafted piece, natural silk and wool, delicate feather trim, infinite occasions. Heritage in your hands.

What It Does For You

Minimal input. Maximum output. We call it lazy girl luxury. Matin Edit is an independent contemporary textile label rooted in the duality of the Bangladeshi American experience. The brand produces limited-edition pieces in premium natural materials, silk, wool, and cashmere, that speak to both the vibrant richness of Bengali culture and the ease of contemporary American dressing.

What We Stand For

Behind Matin Edit is a community of South Asian artisans who bring generational craft to every handmade piece. The materials are intentional because fast fashion already exists, and it isn't what we're here for.

Less polyester. Less disposable fashion. More intention.

These are modern heirlooms: refined, purposeful, and quietly luxurious in a world that's increasingly loud. As New York City's only bespoke feather shawl house, every piece is produced in limited quantities, by hand, on purpose.

Rooted in Bangladeshi heritage. Built for the modern woman who refuses to choose.

Matin Edit. Style with a purpose.
